Large Sheepskin Pet Mat in White (not currently available in Brown)
Skyeskyns large sheepskin pet mats are the ideal bedding for your pet. Unlike many synthetic materials, the wool fleece is both absorbent and washable. Your pet can come in from the rain straight into its bed and be instantly cosy.
Our full sized (minimum 80 x 60cm) sheepskin is a second, having failed to meet our exacting standards of quality for sale in the showroom. This means that there may be a small blemish or paint stain in the skin or on the wool, or the fleece may be a little miss-shapen. However, we guarantee your pet will be discerning only about the quality of comfort they derive from their bedding, and not its style or haute couture! Natural wool will take up moisture and reflect back you pet’s body heat, keeping it totally snug. Some experienced dog handlers are convinced that particular breeds of dog prone to arthritis manage without the disease for longer if they use sheepskin for bedding. In addition, natural wool carries antibacterial qualities which will help reduce unpleasant smells.
Care: machine wash wool cycle at 30’c with our Woolly Wash. Comb back to perfection when dry with our Slicker Brush.
Please note that our pet mats are what are called "seconds", sheepskins that would not otherwise meet our quality standard for size or no blemishes. They can come in a variety of shapes and pile depth. Sizes and thickness will vary.
If you wish to specify requirements of depth of pile, please do so in the Comments box on the checkout screen
Available in Brown or White
To keep your sheepskin looking as good as the day you bought it, restore the texture of the wool from time to time using a metal brush or comb. On the back of each sheepskin, you will find a stamp detailing whether the fleece is washable or dry clean only. For a spot clean or refresh, use a damp cloth and our Woolly Fresh Spray. Use the latter sparingly.
You can hand wash or machine wash your fleece on a wool cycle at 30 degrees Celsius with a wool-specific soap or our Woolly Wash. Dry in the shade and do not expose the leather to heat. When dry, shake vigorously and rejuvenate the pile using a brush.
Your rug should be brushed regularly to keep the fleece in good condition, this is especially important if you have a longer staple rug. If you do spill something on the rug it can be spot washed, taking care not to wet the leather, and then dried slowly. Talk to a reputable dry cleaner, who will have experience of leather and fleeces.
