Skyeskyns Summer Campaign – The Making of…

After opening our very own yurt café here at Skyeskyns this Easter we decided that one tent simply was not enough!  Seeing how fabulous our sheepskins looked inside our yurt with its cosy yet stylish atmosphere, we wanted to portray how easily sheepskins could add comfort, warmth and style to your summer camping experience.  So yes, we purchased yet another tent!  With a little help from our friends the ‘Glamping’ campaign began to take shape… The Location With spring turning to summer Jessica and Ben watched the wildflowers flourish this year on their croft just up the road from Skyeskyns in Waternish.  Their children love to play and have fun amongst the long flora and fauna and the couple thought that sharing the beauty of their surroundings with the world would only be polite!  The Tent After deciding upon a bell tent and researching their whereabouts in our locality, we made the decision that one of our own wouldn’t go a miss.  We can’t wait to get out and about with it to enjoy the beautiful island that we call home. The Contents Aside from our own sumptuous sheepskin and wool products the inside of our brand-new bell tent was furnished by fellow MTC Media website clients Sgaramanga.  They very kindly provided us with lots of vintage goodies such as trunks and cases, one of which had a 1940’s flight sticker on it from Bermuda!  We felt that these stunning old leather items tied in with our British provenance bunting. The Models    Our models Gilly and John are true outdoor adventurers, John being the co-founder of local company Skye Adventure.   On the night, they came over to Jess and Ben’s croft to pose, dance, drink gin and generally have a good laugh.  As it was John’s birthday a wee cake was on hand too.  Both wore British wool jumpers including Harley of Scotland and Harris Tweed. The Man Behind the Camera   Peter McDermott of McDermott Creative has worked with Skyeskyns for many years.  His creative flare always gains new and innovative results for marketing.  Not to mention his great sense of humour – we really are lucky to have him on board.  Everything to do with this campaign was organised to a tee.  His concept sketches really set the scene allowing the team to source and sort out the logistics.  Peter captured the desired ambiance with these photographs.  For that and all his hard work we owe him many thanks.

The Weather We really struck lucky on the night.  Getting these light conditions meant holding off until after 10pm when the sunset glow was just right allowing Uist to be clearly visible on the horizon.  Our Swedish Bonfire kept the pesky midges at bay as they were out and about enjoying the warm damp conditions. The extended Skyeskyns team have had loads of fun and learnt a ton from this shoot.  We really cannot wait to hear feedback from our customers.  Now to put our thinking caps on for the next one…
