Scottish handmade handbags
Based in Glasgow, their bags are hand-crafted in their workshop using wonderfully supple Scottish deerskin leather, giving them uniqueness in terms of both quality and feel. Their sustainably sourced leather comes from seasonally culled Scottish deerskins tanned using traditional methods passed down from father to son through seven generations.
The soft water from the Levern Burn, which flows beside their small tannery, combines the vegetable tannins and oils in this natural, environmentally responsible, tanning process. The bags are 100% made in Scotland, from the tanning to the stitching, using some of the very best of Scotland’s natural resources.
Fifteen years ago, they discovered that 120,000 skins go to landfill each year as by-product of the Scottish venison industry. They moved from primarily working on small skins, as calf, sheep and goat, to processing over 5,000 deerskins per year. This also results in increased revenue going into the rural economy while eliminating the waste disposal costs of artisanal venison processors.
